Day 2- Sacramento Refuge Complex Circumnavigation

3 Refuges~62 miles

Today we visited the Colusa NWR, Sacramento River NWR, Sacramento NWR in a large circular route stopping at each refuge to set up our mobile displays and meet with the public. Even though we dodged rain all morning and although the crowds were sparse, the folks we did meet were enthusiastic about wildlife and the role of refuges in protecting it.

First Stop~Colusa NWR

Resources assistant Deasy Lontoh, intern resource assistant Kevin Shipp and Colusa NWR Manager shared their views of wildlife management and directed us to the best area to set up our displays.

We set up our information tables at the refuge information kiosk, artist and volunteer Doris Bryce began distributing her educational coloring pages that are directed at youngsters.

Mike Mitchell averted disaster from a rain-squall by quickly deploying a tarp overhead.
