Day 12 ~ Humboldt NWR to Don Edwards San Francisco NWR via the Redwood Coast

288 miles

Day 1 - Seal Beach NWR to Sacramento NWR

 

Today was one of the toughest travel days, through mist and rain and even snow flurries in the morning and the madness of rush-hour traffic of the San Francisco megalopolis in the afternoon, the first 227 miles of the day down the 101 took 5 hours.... the last 61 miles through Oakland and the East Bay took 3 hours.

 

The Caravan stopped at Founders Grove to take a walkabout...

Day 2 - Sacramento Refuge Complex Circumnavigation
Day 3 - Murdock School then on to Klamath, Oregon
Day 4 - Klamath to McNary NWR Washington via Umatilla NWR
Day 5 - Columbia High School, McNary NWR then on to The Dalles

 

Rudy and John headed off to do some birding...

Day 6- Portland Convention Center, Tualatin NWR
Day 7 - Nisqually NWR to Ridgefield NWR
Day 8 - Ridgefield NWR and Ridgefield Heritage Days
Day 9 - Ridgefield NWR to Grand Junction via Ankeny NWR  

and found a few birds too... while the rest of us checked out the trees.... Lori and Doris found a place to get out of the rain.
Day 10 - Grand Junction to Humboldt NWR via Redwood Coast
Day 11 - Humboldt NWR Presentation and Docent Tour
Day 12 - Humboldt NWR to Don Edwards NWR
Day 13 - Alameda NWR and Lum Elementary School
Day 14 - Don Edwards NWR to Guadalupe Nipomo Dunes NWR
Day 15 - Oso Flaco Dunes and Dunes Center Presentation

Too soon it was back on the road and in to the mist...

we have miles to go before we sleep and promises to keep...
